Flappy Bird Creator Reveals Why Game Was Discontinued!
Dong Nguyen, the creator of the Flappy Bird, has finally revealed the reason he took down the popular game and put to bed some of the rumours floating around since his announcement to do so.
Forbes held an exclusive interview with the app-developer after the game was discontinued on Monday on the App Store (on Apple devices) and on the Play Store (on Android devices).
In the interview, Nguyen revealed that it was the addictiveness of the game that pushed him to take the game of the market.
“Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed… but it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem,” He said.
The Vietnam-based game creator added that there is no way he will resurrect the game, declaring that “It’s gone forever.”
He also denied all rumors that he had received threats from game-developing company, Nintendo.
Nguyen said that his life just wasn’t as comfortable as before Flappy Bird was created and that addiction to the game caused him to have have sleepless nights.
He makes no regrets for pulling the plug on Flappy Bird saying that he had “thought it through” and although he states that he will not stop creating games, he will not hesitate removing them if they get as addictive as Flappy Bird.
