Red FM Celebrates F.R.I.E.N.D.S!!
On the 22nd of September 1994, a group of six friends made to it TV screens. Chandler Bing, Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Ross Geller and Monica Geller charmed their way into our hearts through their characters, personalities, and plain humor.
The show won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2002 and holds a spot in the Top 5 most watched finale series in television history. Whether you were intrigued by the characters, or you just loved the entire story, their influence on pop culture won’t be erased any time soon.

Jane Lynch and Kathy Griffin auditioned for the part of Phoebe while Ellen DeGeneres turned the role down.
Bruce Willis guest starred in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for free due to a bet with Matthew Perry.
Monica, Ross, Joey and Rachel were meant to be the main characters of the show, while Phoebe and Chandler were originally supposed to be supporting characters.
Courtney Cox insisted on playing Monica Geller after she was offered the role of Rachel.

David Schwimmer was the first actor casted in Friends because co-writers, Marta Kauffman and David Crane already had him in mind when writing the script for Ross.
Matt le Blanc had $11 in his account when he auditioned for the role of Joey. The first thing he recalled buying with his first paycheck from F.R.I.E.N.D.S was a hot dinner.
The opening sequence of the sitcom was NOT shot in New York, it was in the Warner Bros lot in Los Angeles at 4am!
James Michael Tyler, was casted as Gunter, simply because he knew how to work a cappuccino machine.
The six main characters were receiving different salaries for the first 2 seasons but decided to negotiate collectively for a standard salary from Season 3. The cast received $1million per episode for Seasons 9 & 10.
Lisa Kudrow was playing Ursula (Phoebe’s twin sister) before she played Phoebe in a show called “Mad About You” but writers wanted a crossover between the two shows.
It was mentioned that all main characters once lived in Monica’s apartment but it was left out that all characters also lived in Joey’s apartment.
Although Monica is Ross’ younger sister, Courtney Cox is older than David Schwimmer in real life.
The cast and crew spent and average of 5 hours filming each episode of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Joey and Monica were originally supposed to be the main romance sotry of the sitcom but writers changed it to Ross and Rachel because of David and Jennifer’s chemistry on set.
